The Candle
Feb. 7th, 2003 10:30 amA candle burned for so long and so bright.
Reality broke and extinguished the light.
Dripping and wet, the wick soaked right through.
But still I remember, still I love you.
Time heals all wounds, and wicks they do dry,
A flickering flame held against it to try,
To light it again, to see it burn bright.
It's not the same flame, but still it's a light.
It illuminates friendship, warms up the soul,
It's not all of me, but a part of the whole,
Each little flame lights up just a part,
Together they warm the whole of my heart.
