I Gotta Get Paid
Mar. 5th, 2008 10:41 amRobert was born abnormal integumentary pigmentation or, in lay person's terms, he was piebald, being a mixture of darker skin and albino.
At about the age kids begin take on predjudices from those around them, he suffered from intense teasing. He learned to turn the attacks on their head by referring to himself as Camo (short for camoflage, as one taunter put it). The nickname stuck, and his otherwise good nature allowed him to have a good group of friends who respected him.
As puberty hit, it emerged that he also had a form of hirstutism, and the emerging 'fur' was also similarly pigmented in a patchwork. His nickname soon became "Camo Bear", as he joked that he was nearly as hairy as a bear. Again he came through the teasing of others and was stronger for it.
He was never that good with academic work, and ended up working a series of 'unskilled' jobs to keep himself. Then he found his interest in hobbies. He became fascinated by brewing. He brewed beer and ginger beer, learning how to change the ingredients and the environments needed to get what he wanted.
Spurred on by this, he next tried another yeast based product: bread. After several failures he began making passable bread, then incredibly good bread. He was soon on the lookout for other things to try.
His next project was cheese. Again there was a series of failures before he made his first passable cheese. He began experimenting with different types of cheese and it was about this time one friend suggested he should take these hobbies and begin making a business out of them.
Since cheese was his current obsession, he thought he'd start there. His first product was soft, white creamy cheese ripened by a covering of molds.
The only thing stopping him now was what to call his new product line. And then it came to him.
