C'mon Everybody it's....Blanket Time?
May. 16th, 2003 07:01 amI slept on a blanket that worked last night. It was the same blanket I had before, but I plugged in a different controller. My housemate has a king sized bed, and the blanket on that has one controller for each side. She doesn't need the other side warmed, and that controller plugs into my blanket so...it works. No fancy digitial display, no timer, nothing but a dial and an on/off switch. Much better.
I rang Sunbeam yesterday and after a lot of talking they gave me a Freepost address to send the controller back to, and are sending me a simple controller (with a dial, and an on/off switch - just the same as the one I'm borrowing from my housemate) as a temporary measure. Personally I'll be just as happy to keep this temporary one. I don't need the fancy stuff.
It's good to be an 'engineer' though (yes, I can call myself that, I did a degree :). I did a lot of diagnostic testing by plugging the power cord into various power boards, and wall sockets; with or without other things on and off. Thus when they asked me questions I was able to answer them fully. At the end of the coversation the woman I was talking to said "You really tested this thorougly, didn't you?" *grin*
Sunbeam definitely gets a 'thumbs up' for customer service. The amount of effort they're going to is quite amazing.
